The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening national cohesion and building a shared sense of identity among Nigerians through sustained leadership training and values reorientation.
The Director General of the Agency, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, was represented by the Director, Special Duties and Zonal Coordination, David Akoji, at the ongoing capacity-building programme on the Nigerian Identity Project and the National Values Charter held at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru.
Addressing participants drawn from various sectors, Mr. Akoji said the DG considers the Nigerian Identity Project a strategic national priority aimed at strengthening unity, citizenship consciousness, and responsible leadership. He explained that the programme is designed to help leaders understand, imbibe, and embed national values in their leadership styles and organizational culture.
The week-long session featured high-level facilitators, including Dr. Otive Igbuzor, former Chief of Staff to the former Deputy Senate President; Prof. Adeniyi Abiodun of Baze University—both members of the Ministerial Committee that reviewed the original Nigerian Identity Project document.
Also delivering technical sessions were Prof. Umar Musa, Director of Research at NIPSS; Prof. Tor Joe Iorapuu, immediate past Vice Chancellor of Benue State University; Prof. Elias, a Directing Staff at NIPSS; and Dr. Kolawale Ojo, among other distinguished scholars.
The training underscores the ongoing collaboration between NOA and its partners to promote a unified national identity and strengthen value-based leadership across institutions in Nigeria.
