Oborevwori Warns Contractors Against Project Delays, Commissions 17.9km Road in Ndokwa West
By Spotnews Communications
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has warned contractors handling government projects against unnecessary delays, insisting that his administration will not tolerate failure to meet agreed timelines.
The governor gave the warning on Tuesday during the commissioning of the 17.9-kilometre Utagba-Uno–Ndemili Road in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of the state.
Oborevwori expressed disappointment that two other road projects, the Amai Access Road and Eweshi Road, covering a combined distance of 10 kilometres, could not be commissioned alongside the Utagba-Uno–Ndemili Road, despite being awarded at the same time.
He blamed the delay on the contractor handling the projects and directed the Ministry of Works to intensify supervision to ensure their completion before the end of the year.
The governor said his administration would hold contractors accountable for delays, stressing that public infrastructure projects must be delivered in line with agreed timelines.
More Road Projects for Ndokwa Nation
Oborevwori also announced plans for additional road projects in Ndokwa Nation, reaffirming his administration's commitment to improving road infrastructure and connectivity across the area.
Among the projects are the 7-kilometre Emu-Ebendo–Iyasele–Ashaka Road and the 6-kilometre access road leading to the Kwale Free Trade Zone.
He also listed the Igbe-Ogume–Emu-Ebendo Road, which is ongoing, and the –Afor–Obi Palace Spur to Tipa Road at Ethiop River in Obiarukwu, for which the award process is ongoing.
The governor said the planned projects would further strengthen the state's infrastructure network and improve access to communities and economic centres across Ndokwa Nation.
