Teachers in the state have pledged their unalloyed support to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in appreciation to the magnanimous approval of the elongation of years of service for Teachers in the state.
The pledge was made known in a communique at an emergency meeting of the state wing Executive Council of Nigeria Union of Teachers in Asaba.
The communique read by the state secretary of Teachers, and signed by the state chairman, Comrade Titus Okotie, the secretary, Comrade Dan Basime and the publicity Secretary, Comrade Emmanuel Adaboke says the meeting was to brainstorm on the welfare of Teachers and appraise the political developments with a view to supporting candidates with good manifestoes that would move the Educational system forward in the overall intereste of teachers.
The communique stressed that the recent approval of the sixty five years of age and forty years of service for Teachers needed appreciation to Governor OKOWA.
They called on Teachers to rededicate themselves to effective service delivery, to justify the state government huge investment on education.
The Teachers also appealed to the state government to set the necessary machineries in motion for immediate implementation of the Harmonized retirement age and years of service for Teaching profession.
They appreciated the state Head of Service,Mr.Reginald Bayoko, the Commissioner for Education and other relevant stakeholders in the actualization of the approval by Governor OKOWA.
They called on Teachers to be peaceful and go out to vote to perform their civic duties.
