OBEREVWORI DECLARS OPEN A 3DAY CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME FOR STAFF OF DELTA STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY

The Legislature as the first arm of government and citadel of representation of people's mandate, will continue to attract attention in terms of democratic practices and good governance. The Governor -Elect, and Speaker, State House of Assembly Hon Sheriff Oberevwori stated this while declaring open a 3- Day Capacity Building Program for Staff of the Delta State House of Assembly on Grade Level 12 to 16 holding in Asaba. Represented by the Deputy Speaker, Hon Ochor Christopher Ochor, Hon Oberevwori said as the Assembly's reservoir of parliamentary practice and procedure as well as the institutional memory, the Leadership of the State Assembly rely on their quality advice, and service delivery for a smooth, virile, effective and efficient workforce in the state Legislature hence the training. He said the timely realization of these roles had guided in the training and retraining of Assembly staff from time to time in order to obtain international best practices in service delivery. Hon Oberevwori said the training among other things would stimulate their knowledge, expand their horizons and reset their mind for career and personal development. As the most vibrant House of Assembly in the country, the speaker said it is his intension to have the best and brightest members of staff for superior service delivery to complement the roles of legislators. In her opening remarks the Clerk of the House Mrs Lyna Ocholor said the theme Standing out , Making the right impact and Securing the Future remained the same as that of those in Grade level 03 to 10 as it was apt in preparing the staff for the transition to the 8th Assembly. Commending the Speaker of the Assembly and state governor elect, Hon Sheriff Oberevwori for keeping to his promise of ensuring the training and retraining of Assembly staff, Mrs Ocholor said the training over time has boosted the effectiveness of the Assembly work force. Participants who spoke said the seminar would improve on their knowledge keeping them up to speed to the effective delivery
