INE FESTIVAL OF ASABA KINGDOM HAS BEEN DESCRIBED AS A UNIFGING FACTOR AMONGST ASABA INDIGENES

 The Ine festival has been described as a unifying factor amongst the indigene of Asaba.

The Iyase of Asaba , Obi Patrick Onyeobi stated this in Asaba when he played host to his kinsmen who joined him to commemorate the festival.

He said the major activity of the Ine festival was feasting with loved ones as well as the combat dance by the Iyase indicating how they had fought intruders in time past.

According to Obi Onyeobi, it was a taboo not to celebrate the annual Ine festival, stressing that it provided an opportunity for the people to honour their past Heroes.

Some of the indegene, Obi Chiweta Okonta, Ogbueshi Obodo Okediachi and Chief. Paul Eluaka called on Government and other relivant authorities to join hands in restructuring the customs and traditions of the people, especially the Ine festival, stressing that the culture of the land is gradually going into extinction.

The highlights included singing and dancing.
