UKAH SALUTES ASAGBA OF ASABA, REINSTATES COMMITMENT TO BEAUTIFY THE CAPITAL TERRITORY

The Director General, Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, Chief. Patrick Ukah has joined top traditional Chiefs and Government functionaries to launch the 2024 OTU-IHAZA calendar and planting of one thousand trees as part of activities to mark the centenary celebration of the Asagba of Asaba,Prof Chike Edozien,coming up in July, 2024
Chief Ukah in an interview, said before the end of last year,they launched secure, clean and green the Delta capital territory campaign and they visited the traditional rulers including the Asagba, saying that with the hundred years of Asagba, he has keyed into that program to secure,clean and green the Capital Territory.
He explained that they do not want to force people to do the right thing, but want people to understand the reasons to do the right things commending the Asaba community they have started by the tree planting adding that greening the capital territory was not the tree planting only, but expect people to also plant flowers to beautify their environment.
Chief Ukah said though the Agency had ended its 21day sensitization campaign, after which enforcement of compliance with the extant Environmental laws ought to have started, but had extended the date to give residents more time to do the needful.
The DG further acknowledged that, Prof. Edozien had contributed immensely to making Asaba comfortable and hospitable for all Nigerians, noting that Asagba truly deserved to be celebrated as he will be attaining centenarian age in July.
