The need to consider girl child for leadership position has been highlighted
The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Female Youths Development and Convener, the Power of Her, Ambassador. Miracle Arimobi, highlighted this at a hangout with Journalists at the NUJ Press Centre in Asaba on Sunday.
She said girl child is born to serve just like a boy stressing that it was inhuman to neglect a girl child in both political and other fields of authority.
Ambassador Arimobi meanwhile blamed the waywardness of some present day girls and ladies on poor parenting, insisting that it was high time parents and guardians showed greater commitment to bringing up not just their children and wards, but any child around them in the fear of God.
The SSA to the Governor said the main focus of her office was to raise female leaders through training and mentorship, pointing out that a programme was being planned for October 18 to give to activate Her’ initiative tailored to the MORE agenda of Governor Oborevwori administration.
Ambassador. Arimobi revealed that over 500 females had been appointed to various positions by Governor Oborevwori, adding that 350 had been selected for the October 18 event, which would also be attended by female Vice
Chairmen of Local Governments, wives of Council Chairmen, female Commissioners, female members of the State Assembly, among others.
She commended the press for their professional duties and solicited the support of NUJ to her office and project.
In a welcome address, the Chairman of the State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Comrade Churchill Oyowe, said the hangout was put together to provide a firm atmosphere for leaders and stakeholders in the public and private sectors to freely interact with Journalists.
He explained that it was not meant to probe or robish anyone, saying that the main thrust was to build friendships and assist the guests to let the public know about them and their activities through the media
