On day three of Delta State's intensified environmental enforcement operations, the Task Force, led by Chief Godspower Asiuwhu, Task Force Chairman and Executive Assistant to the Governor on Beautification, Chief Emmanuel Okpomo, achieved a substantial breakthrough in its ongoing campaign to restore order and public safety. With strong support from local security units, including the Anti-Cult Volunteer Corps and marshals from the task force, the team conducted a highly effective raid, apprehending individuals defacing public property and clearing illegal occupants from the Koka interchange, many of whom were caught sleeping as authorities moved in.
These operations follow a troubling increase in robberies and attacks on citizens traveling through the interchange at night and early morning, prompting urgent action from Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration. The Governor has emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of residents while enforcing environmental regulations, and he commended the task force’s dedicated work in this regard.
The administration highlighted that unauthorized occupants and traders at the interchange add no economic value, while significantly endangering themselves and degrading government facilities. Chief Godspower Asiuwhu praised the collaboration with local security officials, the Anti-Cult Volunteer Corps, and task force marshals, whose presence and coordination were instrumental in ensuring the smooth execution of the operation.
Chief Asiuwhu expressed his pride in the team’s dedication and vigilance, stressing that this continued effort sends a clear message: Delta State will not tolerate actions that threaten public safety or undermine its commitment to environmental sustainability.
