The need for peace and security have been stressed as major instrument for sustainable community development.
The Executive  Assistant to Delta State Governor  on Community Development,Chief Taju Isichei,stated this  on Sunday at the 15th Parly to Party hang out with Journalists held at the Press Centre of the Delta State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Asaba

Chief. Isichei observed that no meaningful development could succide in any environment there was no peace and security, adding that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori tried to retain the existing peace and security which was part of  the MORE agenda of the administration.

The Executive Assistant, revealed that Asaba, the state capital, had become attractive to both indigenes and non-indigenes, especially investors, because of peaceand security.
He condernmed the matter of drug abuse, saying that it has destroyed the lives of so many youths as well turned some to engage in criminal activities.



Chief.Isichei, said there was a programme, organised recently in the state,which centered on the effects of drug abuse and related crimes, which was attended by representatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the Police, community leaders, women, youths, representatives of the Arewa, Yoruba and Igbo communities, various groups, among others 


The Executive Assistant,said various presentations were made on the subject matter and the participants went home well informed about the harmful effects of drug abuse and why they must be involved in the fight against th menace for the greater good of the community.

Chief.Isichei said that his office also last week took a sensitization programme on the dangers of cultism, drug abuse, prostitution, vandalism, among other social vices, to Osadenis High School, West End Mixed Secondary School among others in Asaba, where he cautioned the students against being culpable, urging them to focus on building their future.


He stressed that the Oborevwori administration had done a lot to enhance security and build bridges of peace in the state and urged Deltans and other residents of the state to “say something when they see something” strange or suspicious in their neighborhood, as failure to do so could hamper community development.
Early, the Chairman, Delta State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Churchill Oyowe, commended the Executive Assistant for honouring the invitation for the hangout saying that it was one way of letting stakeholders the opportunity to speak on the activities of government, saying that the State government  needed all the publicity to keep Deltans informed of its activities.
