The new Delta State wing chairman of the Nigerian Union of teachers NUT comrade Dickson porbeni made the call in his office, at the Teachers House, in Asaba, While interacting with Journalists.
He Stated that as the new boss of the State NUT, he would do everything possible to ensure that teachers across the 25 local Government Areas of the State are given what they deserved in the scheme of things.
comrade Porbeni appealed to the State Government not to treat the issue of university graduates teachers in primary schools with contempt and levity but promote them to as far as level 17.
Comrade Porbeni advised all teachers in the State to avoid corporal punishment of pupils such as flogging and beating saying that punishments are meant to correct pupils and not to injure them.
While comending the good jobs of the State Government, Comrade Porbeni appealed to Government to ensure that toilets and pipeborne water are provided in schools to encourage teaching and learning in the school system across the State
The Chairman also appealed to Government,philanthropists and privilaged individuals to help provide chairs for pupils who seat on the ground while learning especially in the rural areas of the State.
