The Delta State Traffic Management Authority (DESTMA) has held a strategic meeting with financial institutions across the state to discuss areas of collaboration aimed at improving traffic management and compliance with state laws.
Speaking after the engagement, the Director General of DESTMA, Hon. Dr. Benjamin Essien Okiemute, said the discussions focused on enforcement of the right of way, removal of obstructions, and ensuring banks and other financial institutions comply with parking regulations for their customers.
According to Okiemute, many financial institutions do not have designated parking spaces, a challenge which often leads to congestion around bank premises.He
He noted that a follow-up meeting has been scheduled to address the issue, adding that the institutions welcomed the initiative as a positive development.
The DG also disclosed that DESTMA is undergoing a rebranding process to strengthen its operations, with emphasis on improved kitting and empowerment of its personnel.He
Okiemute appealed to the financial institutions to support the agency in this process and to pass the information down to their subordinates.
The representatives of the Banks, described the engagement as timely and productive, while requesting a formal written communication from DESTMA for proper documentation and follow-up.
