Delta State Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise Records Improved Compliance
The Delta State monthly Environmental Sanitation exercise was held on Saturday, 27th September 2025, across the state, with restrictions on human and vehicular movement fully in force.

The State Ministry of Environment team, led by the Functioning Permanent Secretary, Mr.Enone Godwin, alongside the Oshimili South Local Government team, led by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Ify Ogbogu, mobilized men and equipment to ensure compliance. A mobile court was stationed at Oshimili South Local Government to prosecute defaulters.
Observation across the state capital revealed encouraging compliance, especially along Okpanam Road and other major parts of Asaba, where restrictions on movement were effectively observed.
At FMC, Ibusa Junction, and other major intersections, task force teams mounted roadblocks to enforce environmental laws.

Speaking to newsmen, Mr. Inone Godwin emphasized that cleanliness is everybody’s responsibility, stressing that government’s role is to sensitize and mobilize the public. He warned that dirty environments attract diseases that could lead to hospital admissions, adding that it is better to comply with environmental laws to stay healthy.
He explained that the monthly sanitation exercise is designed to promote the good health of Deltans, especially during the rainy season, when indiscriminate dumping of refuse could block water channels and lead to flooding.

Mr. Inone further advised corn sellers, traders, eateries, and residents to patronize Private Sector Participants (PSPs) for proper waste disposal, rather than relying on cart pushers and wheelbarrow operators who dump refuse indiscriminately at unauthorized sites.
He called on all residents to desist from indiscriminate dumping of waste in order to keep Delta State clean and avoid outbreaks of diseases.

The Permanent Secretary charged the public to obey environmental laws, not only for health benefits but also for the beauty of the state, warning that violators would face the mobile court.
