The National Orientation Agency (NOA) says it has recorded progress in the war against insecurity due to to communication, citizen support, and the courage of security forces.
The Director-General of the agency Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu who recently made this known at Abuja said NOA's intensified communication campaign has reached an estimated 32 million citizens in three months.
He said the campaign's impact is evident, with major suspect arrests increasing by 33% and rescue of abducted victims growing from 19 to 27, while fatalities in violent crimes dropped by 12%.
According to him, misinformation is a significant threat, hence NOA's focus on pushing verified information and strengthening public vigilance to prevent endangering lives.
He added that the security agencies recorded seven cross-border interventions, up from four, and seized multiple arms caches in the North-West and South-East, indicating improved intelligence coordination.
The NOA boss revealed that the ICPC recovered ₦840 million and $919,000 in October, while the EFCC confirmed recoveries of ₦566.3 billion and $411.6 million, with 1,502 forfeited properties in two years.
Issa-Onilu attributes these gains to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing a whole-of-government approach where security, transparency, and communication reinforce each other.
Through collective efforts, NOA aims to build a safer Nigeria, urging citizens to continue working with the government, as community intelligence remains a strong tool against criminal networks, says Issa-Onilu.
