The Convener of the Ika People's Congress (IPC), Eugene Azuka Uzum, has congratulated the immediate past governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, and others who were honoured by the group for their exemplary contributions to the uplifting of humanity.
An elated Uzum, who was also recognised with an award for creating the body some ten years ago, commended the selfless sacrifice of the awardees in projecting the vision of the body to reality, adding that the body had not only surpassed its projected aims, but had planned a new course to address the political challenges working against the full actualisation of the goals of the body in Delta State and beyond.
He charged the body to remain steadfast in the face of glaring challenges confronting it, adding that the end results of its creation and existence would be justified by its positive impacts in the political advancement of Ika Nation and Nigeria in general.
Those who got awards at the occasion included Chiedu Ebie, Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), for his impactful development initiatives; Rtd. General Leo Irabor, for projecting Ika Nation; Obi of Umunede for his unparalleled traditional rulership role and Hillary Ibegbulem for his untiring efforts at uplifting youths to limelight in the locality.
