NDLEA Delta State Command Cracks Down on Illicit Drug Trafficking, Intercepts Two Busses Loaded with Narcotics

Asaba, Delta State - The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Delta State Command has made a significant breakthrough in its efforts to combat illicit drug trafficking in the state. On January 15, 2026, a team of NDLEA operatives led by the State Commander, CN Halilu Hamidu PhD, conducted a successful operation along the Asaba-Onitsha expressway, resulting in the interception of two commercial busses laden with various illicit drugs.
Acting on credible intelligence, the NDLEA team arrested two suspects, Zaharadeen Yahaya, 25, and Sanusi Maman, 23, in connection with the seized drugs. The recovered exhibits include 410,800 pills of tramadol, 84.2 litres of codeine syrup, 82,250 tablets of diazepam, 900 tabs of swinol, and 65 pills of molly, with an estimated street value of approximately 300 Million Naira.
The State Commander, CN Halilu Hamidu PhD, has commended the operatives for their diligence and commitment to eradicating drug trafficking in the state. He assured the public of the agency's continued efforts to ensure a drug-free society and urged citizens to support the NDLEA in its mission to combat drug abuse and trafficking.
The suspects are currently in NDLEA custody and will be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
