In a move to enhance security operational efficiency, strengthen internal oversight, and reinforce discipline within the Nigerian Police Force, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved a comprehensive restructuring of the Police Monitoring Unit.
The decision aimed at driven the need to realign the unit with its core mandate address and identified operational gaps, reposition it as a credible and effective mechanism for internal accountability within the Force.
As part of the reforms, the unit has been streamlined and strengthened to enhance proactive, monitoring and intelligence-driven inspections, and real-time oversight of police personnel's and operations across Commands, Formations and Departments.
The new structure can also streamlines the integrated key investigative and monitoring functions in alignment with the Force’s broader reform agenda.
To drive the philosophy leading to the new structure, the IGP has also approved new leadership for such unit.
