As Royal Priesthood Divine Assembly Celebrates 20th Anniversary
Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has charged the church to continue serving as a pillar of truth, justice and compassion in society, stressing that its moral and spiritual guidance remains crucial to the development of the state.
The governor gave the charge during the 20th anniversary thanksgiving celebration of Royal Priesthood Divine Assembly held at the church auditorium in Asaba.
The event attracted clerics, government officials, members of the ministry and other well-wishers, while activities marking the anniversary included visits to an orphanage and correctional facility, as well as a road rally.
Represented by the Commissioner for Special Duties (Government House), Ifeanyi Osuoza, Governor Oborevwori described the church’s 20-year journey as a testimony of God’s faithfulness and dedication to kingdom service.
He noted that the church had grown from humble beginnings into “a beacon of light and hope” through evangelism, family support and spiritual guidance that had positively impacted lives within and outside Asaba.
“You have lived up to your name as a Royal Priesthood, choosing to declare the praise of Him who called us out of darkness into His marvellous light,” the governor stated.
Oborevwori further commended the leadership of the church for complementing government efforts in promoting moral values and societal development.
According to him, “the challenges of our time demand that the church continue to stand as a pillar of truth, refuge for the weary and voice for justice and compassion.”
Delivering a sermon titled “Why Must We Thank And Praise God?” based on 1 Corinthians 4:7 and Psalms 127:7, the Presiding Pastor of the church, Sam Onitiri, described thanksgiving as a catalyst for greater blessings.
“Thanksgiving is an application for more. God is the doer, and we must be careful not to ascribe glory to ourselves. God is the giver of all things, even giving us His only begotten son, and thanking Him provokes Him to step into our situation because He inhabits the praise of His people,” he said.
A major highlight of the celebration was the cutting of the church’s 20th anniversary cake by the pastor and members of the congregation.
