It was a grand celebration on Saturday, May 30, 2026, as Dr. Oke Idawene, National Convener and Chairman of the Integrity Group of Nigeria, marked his 50th birthday with an afternoon of praise, worship, and tributes in his honour.
The event, held at Ellabell Hotel and Suites, Asaba, attracted prominent political leaders, government officials, religious leaders, and associates who gathered to celebrate the life, contributions, and enduring impact of an iconic personality.
Among the dignitaries present was Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, who was represented by the Commissioner for Lands and Surveys, Chief Emamusi Obiodeh.
Delivering the governor's goodwill message, Obiodeh described Dr. Idawene as a dedicated, sacrificial, and loyal son whose steadfast commitment to integrity and societal development has earned him admiration across the state.
The governor congratulated the celebrant on attaining the golden age of 50 and wished him many more years of prosperity, good health, and impactful service to humanity.
A major highlight of the celebration was a keynote lecture titled "When Resilience Meets Courage," delivered by Dr. Dorcas Erowo Okah, Patron of the Integrity Group of Nigeria and a Global Transformational Leadership Coach.
In her thought-provoking address, Dr. Okah noted that while resilience has become a defining characteristic of many Nigerians enduring hardship and challenges, the nation now requires courageous citizens willing to confront injustice and drive positive change.
According to her, true transformation begins when resilience is matched with courage.
She described Dr. Idawene as a man who has remained consistent in upholding values of integrity and good governance in a society where many often compromise principles for convenience.
She emphasized that nations thrive when men and women choose character over comfort and remain committed to making meaningful contributions to society.
Dr. Okah further commended the celebrant for his unwavering dedication to promoting accountability and ethical leadership, describing him as a worthy example for younger generations.
Offering prayers for the celebrant, she expressed hope that his voice would continue to inspire justice, courage, and transformational leadership across Nigeria.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Faith Idawene, wife of the celebrant, welcomed guests and expressed profound appreciation for their presence, while paying glowing tribute to her husband for his dedication to family, service, and nation-building.
Also speaking, prominent lawyer and political leader, Fred Majemite, described Dr. Idawene as a man of conviction who passionately pursues causes he believes in.
He commended his courage, leadership qualities, and commitment to advancing good governance, assuring him of his continued support.
In his vote of thanks, Dr. Idawene expressed gratitude to Governor Oborevwori, dignitaries, friends, and well-wishers who attended the celebration.
He urged Nigerians not to be afraid of taking principled positions, even when such positions may be controversial.
"Do not be afraid to be controversial, especially when you know that what you are doing is right," he stated.
