The National Orientation Agency has commended Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele for using her platform to promote civic responsibility and national pride in her recently released movie, “Behind the Scene,” which contains a deliberate message discouraging the abuse of the Nigerian currency.
In a press release signed by the Director General of NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, the agency acknowledged Akindele’s thoughtful and patriotic inclusion of content promoting respect for the Nigerian Naira.
The NOA noted that Akindele’s creative intervention aligns strongly with the Federal Government’s ongoing advocacy for responsible civic behaviour and adherence to laws guiding the proper use of the Naira adding that the film serves as a timely reminder that the currency represents more than just a medium of exchange.
Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu also described Funke Akindele as a role model in Nigeria’s creative industry, noting that her influence has significantly amplified public awareness and driven behavioural change.
The agency further recognized the vital role of the entertainment industry in shaping societal values and attitude noting that Akindele’s work exemplifies how film can be effectively utilized as a tool for national reorientation and for promoting messages that strengthen civic responsibility among Nigerians.
The NOA DG encouraged the filmmaker to continue leveraging her platform to support initiatives that promote national pride and respect for institutions.
