Electricity: Delta Targets Stable Electricity As Energy Commissioner Anoka Leads Strategic Talks with BEDC, TCN to Strengthen Power Supply in Delta
The Delta State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to achieving reliable and sustainable electricity supply across the state following a strategic engagement with the regional leadership of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company, BEDC, and the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN.
The meeting, held in Asaba and led by the Commissioner for Energy, Engr. Ifeanyi Anoka, focused on practical pathways to address power challenges in critical areas of the state, particularly Sapele, Warri, and Asaba regions.
Speaking after the engagement, Engr. Anoka described the meeting as “productive and forward-looking,” noting that it provided valuable insights into the unique challenges facing each region.
“The Sapele, Warri, and Asaba regions remain critical to the state’s electricity network. Today’s meeting helped us identify key areas where government intervention can strengthen infrastructure, improve service delivery, and accelerate progress toward a more resilient power sector,” he said.
The Commissioner commended the dedication of all stakeholders working to ensure stable power supply in Delta State.
However, he expressed concern over the persistent challenge of vandalism of power infrastructure*, which he said continues to undermine efforts at delivering uninterrupted electricity.
“It is imperative that government, host communities, and all relevant stakeholders work together to safeguard critical power infrastructure. Protecting these assets is essential to delivering uninterrupted electricity and driving the socio-economic development of our state,” Anoka stated.
The engagement is in line with the MORE Agenda of the Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori administration, which prioritizes infrastructure development and improved quality of life for Deltans.

Udoril Cyril, BHTO, BEDC Asaba; O. O. Onwuka, Project Manager, TCN Asaba; *Okolosi P. I., Regional Head, BEDC Sapele; *Engr. Kingsley A., Chief Technical Officer, BEDC; and other senior officials.
Stakeholders at the meeting agreed to deepen collaboration between government, BEDC, TCN, and host communities to ensure the protection of power assets and faster resolution of supply issues across the state.
