DELTA CP COMMENDS POWA FOR SUPPORTING POLICE FAMILIES, PROMOTING WOMEN'S WELFARE
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel E. Erale, psc, mnips, has commended the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Delta State Chapter, for its contributions to the welfare of police families, women’s empowerment and community development.
The Commissioner gave the commendation when he received the Chairperson of POWA, Delta State Chapter, Mrs. Samuel Etaifo Iyabo, and members of the association during a courtesy visit to the Delta State Police Command Headquarters in Asaba.
CP Erale acknowledged the significant role played by police officers’ wives in supporting their spouses and sustaining stable family environments amid the demanding nature of police service.
He noted that the sacrifices, patience, understanding and encouragement of officers’ spouses contribute significantly to the morale, commitment and effectiveness of police personnel in the discharge of their duties.
According to the Commissioner, policing comes with unique professional and personal challenges that often affect officers and their families, making the support of their spouses particularly important.
He therefore urged members of POWA to remain committed to strengthening their families through patience, perseverance and mutual understanding, stressing that a stable family environment is essential to the wellbeing and effectiveness of police officers.
The CP also recognised the importance of POWA’s initiatives in promoting the welfare of police families and supporting the broader objectives of the Nigeria Police Force.
Earlier, the POWA Chairperson, Mrs. Samuel Etaifo Iyabo, expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, for his leadership of the Nigeria Police Force.
She also commended the National POWA Chairperson, Mrs. Mutiat Olufunmilola Disu, for what she described as her visionary and inspiring leadership of the association.
Mrs. Iyabo reaffirmed the Delta Chapter’s commitment to improving the welfare of police families, empowering women, promoting children’s wellbeing and contributing meaningfully to community development.
She emphasised the association’s resolve to pursue programmes and initiatives that would improve the quality of life of police families while encouraging a supportive environment for officers to perform their responsibilities effectively.
The visit underscored the importance of collaboration between police leadership and the Police Officers’ Wives Association in advancing family welfare, strengthening institutional support systems and promoting community-oriented initiatives.
