FADAF CALLS FOR MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS, URGES PUBLIC TO BREAK STIGMA
ASABA, October 10, 2026 — The Friends Against Drug Abuse Foundation (F.A.D.A.F) has called on members of the public to prioritise mental health, support people facing emotional challenges, and break the stigma associated with mental health conditions.
The foundation made the call in a message commemorating the 2026 World Mental Health Day, observed annually on October 10, stressing the importance of compassion, understanding, and creating safe spaces where people can speak openly about their mental health without fear of discrimination or shame.
F.A.D.A.F emphasised that mental health is an essential part of overall well-being, noting that everyone deserves to be heard, supported, and treated with dignity, particularly during difficult moments in life.
The foundation encouraged individuals experiencing emotional distress to seek support, take necessary breaks when overwhelmed, and speak with trusted persons or qualified professionals when needed.
It also stressed that asking for help should not be regarded as a sign of weakness, but as a positive step towards recovery, resilience, and a healthier life.
According to the foundation, building a healthier society requires collective responsibility, including showing kindness to others, offering emotional support, and ensuring that people experiencing mental health challenges are not isolated or stigmatised.
F.A.D.A.F further urged families, communities, and relevant stakeholders to promote open conversations about mental health and encourage supportive environments where individuals can seek assistance without fear of judgement.
The foundation reaffirmed its commitment to promoting awareness and encouraging a culture of care, understanding, and mutual support as part of efforts to build healthier and happier communities.
It called on the public to make mental health a priority not only on World Mental Health Day but every day, emphasising that every person's mental health matters, every life is valuable, and no one should have to face life's challenges alone.
The annual observance of World Mental Health Day provides an opportunity to raise awareness of mental health issues, mobilise support, and promote efforts to improve mental well-being across communities.
