The Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Nkem Nwaeke, has expressed profound gratitude to members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, for their love, solidarity and support during the burial ceremony of his late mother-in-law, Mrs Grace Sarah Omoaregba.
Nwaeke conveyed his appreciation during a thank-you visit to the Secretariat of the NUJ Delta State Council at Asaba, where he particularly acknowledged members of the Union who attended the funeral reception ceremony in Benin City at the weekend.
The CPS recalled that from the moment the news of his mother-in-law's demise broke, members of the Union stood firmly by him and his wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Mary Efekhoba Nwaeke, through condolence messages, telephone calls and personal visits.
According to him, the overwhelming show of concern and solidarity demonstrated the strength of the bond of unity, friendship, camaraderie, and brotherhood among journalists in Delta state.
Nwaeke specifically commended the leadership and members of the Asaba Correspondents' Chapel for their support, while expressing special appreciation to the NUJ Delta State Chairman, Comrade Churchill Oyovwe, for personally leading the delegation that attended the burial to honour the memory of their beloved mother.
"Words alone cannot adequately express our appreciation for the love and solidarity we received from members of this great Union. Your calls, messages, visits, prayers and physical presence meant so much to us during this difficult period," Nwaeke said.
Thanking God for the successful burial ceremony, Guwor’s CPS also appreciated Him for granting journey mercies to all who travelled to Benin City to participate in the event.
He reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining the spirit of unity and camaraderie within the Union, assuring members that he would continue to support initiatives that promote collective growth, cooperation and professional brotherhood among journalists.
On behalf of himself and his wife, Nwaeke prayed for God's blessings, protection and strength upon everyone who identified with the family during their period of mourning.
In his remarks, the NUJ Delta State Chairman, Comrade Churchill Oyovwe, commended Nwaeke and his wife for demonstrating genuine love, humility and commitment to the ideals of brotherhood.
Oyovwe expressed appreciation to the CPS for hosting another reception in honour of members of the Union following the successful and befitting burial of Mama Grace Sarah Omoaregba.
He prayed God to continue to bless, strengthen and sustain the Nwaeke family.
Also speaking, the NUJ National Ex-Officio, Comrade Felix Igbekoyi; Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, Mr. Dennis Otu; veteran journalist and publisher, Comrade Andrew Owhobetehe; and Guardian Newspaper Correspondent, Mr. Monday Osayande, described Nwaeke as a dependable colleague and committed member of the Union.
