The Royal Father of Ashama kingdom,Obi Solomon Ezechinyelugo 11, has marked this year's new yam festival with a call on his people to always embrace peace and secure their culture and traditions .
The Traditional ruler said that the new yam festival was a time to appreciate God and the ancestors for a bountiful harvest and secure of life.
The Royal Father said new yam festival was a unifying factor among the indigenes of Ashama saying that the major activity of the Festival was feasting with loved ones as well dance by the Obi indicating how it was in the past.
Obi Ezechinyelugo the 11,appealed to the state government to come to their aid as they have no access road to their community as that was the major challenge of the community.
He said going from Ubulu-Uno to Ashama was a big challenge as vehicles and motorcycles find it defficult to pass the road.l9
The king thanked God for the peace and keeping the kingdom going undermining the challenges.
Obi Ezechinyelugo commended the state Governor Senator Ifeanyi Okowa the remarkable development and peace in the state stressing that such Goodwill should be extended to his community.6
The Obi called on his people to always embrace peac and work according to the law of the land.
