OBOREVWORI MOURNS EX-ASSEMBLY CLERK, COMMISSIONER, DAN OKENYI

30/3/2023 SSG Red Cross society. The state government has assured members of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Delta State chapter that it will continue to support and work with them towards addressing emergency situations and natural disasters in the state. Secretary to the state Government chief Patrick Ukah gave the assurance when the state's chapter of the Red Cross Society visited him in his office in Asaba. Chief Ukah who noted that the state chapter of the Red Cross Society had been supporting the state to manage disasters and emergency situations across the state, thanked the National and international bodies of the Society for the interventions last year especially in Ndokwa East, Isoko South and Ughelli South local government areas, during the 2022 flood disaster . He said the intervention provided substantial relief to the people as well as encouraged and strengthened them to move on with their lives after the disaster. The SSG pledged the State Government's support towards the Society's current interventions for effective service delivery in the State. The leader of the visiting team and the Director Disaster Management Nigerian Red Cross Society, Abuja Mr. Benson Agbro said they were in the SSG's office to solicit State Government's support as regards logistics to enable the State's chapter of the Society to activate its emergency first aids team. Mr. Agbro, who in an interview, said it was feed back session for the benefit of the donors, noted that what they had done was good, but not enough to cover a large number of households. He said they were looking at how to scale up the households they would meet with a view to supporting them with building materials for their shelters and rehabilitate the water pumps in their areas. The Senior Disaster Management, Cash and Voucher officer, International Federation of Red Cross Abuja, Mr. Gabriel Nashon also in an interview, said their activities included to support those who suffered from flood disaster with relief materials to cushion the effect of the flood, adding that they had started with few communities in Isoko local government area. He solicited the assistance of the State government to enable them achieve set goals.
