Delta State Government has said it is committed to linking urban and rural communities with quality roads and bridges.
The Secretary to the State Government Dr. Kingsley Emu disclosed this when he led top government functionaries on inspection of roads and educational projects being executed by the state government in Isoko federal constituency.
The team visited Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro, in Isoko North Local Government Area where they inspected the administrative building, principal officers' quarters, the Vice Chancellor's quarters and the university's demonstration nursery, primary and secondary schools.
The SSG who was speaking shortly after inspecting Okpolo/Enhwe internal roads and drains phase ll in Isoko South Local Government Area of the state, said the state government was bringing development to rural areas in the state through road infrastructure.
He said the decision to inter-connect communities with good road network was to stem the tide of rural-urban drift.
He noted that the 2.6 kilometres Okpolo/Enhwe internal roads with 4.5 kilometres drains will be ready for inauguration once the portion retaining water on the road was corrected by the contractor.
At the Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro, the SSG who was conducted round the various projects in the institution by the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Jacob Oboreh, described the administrative building as an outstanding edifice.
Dr. Emu who commended the contractor for a job well done disclosed that provisions were made for the maintenance of the projects inspected in the university.
Accompanied by some Commissioners he said the projects will be inaugurated as part of activies to mark 100 days in office by Governor Sheriff OBOREVWORI.
