Barely One week after the truck explosion in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area which claimed lives and properties, what would have been another disastrous inferno was averted Saturday night after fire gutted a section of the wood market at the Okpanam City Gate building material in Oshimili North Local Government Area destroying woods and machines worth millions of Naira.
Narrating the incident, the Chairman of Okpanam City Gate building material market, Mr. Chika Ononuju and his vice, Mr. Solomon Ashibogwu said they received a distress call around 2:00am from some persons who were offloading their goods in the market premises that fire gutted a part of the wood section of the market and immediately reached out to men of the State and Federal Fire Service who responded swiftly to the scene.
They revealed that the effort of the men from the Federal and State Fire Service ensured that it did not razed the whole market down.
The chairman however noted that the cause of the fire was not known yet ruling out any possibility of electrical fault as there was no power in the market and confirmed that no life was lost as a result of the incident.
