The Delta State former Deputy Chairman, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Pastor Anene Okafor says the lasting solution to the present Nigerian predicament is restructuring.
Pastor Anene Okafor's statement resonates with many Nigerians who are concerned about corruption, indiscipline, and insecurity in the country.
He said the issues of corruption , indiscipline and insecurities have hindered Nigeria's development, and restructuring is a potential solution.
According to Pastor Okafor, restructuring, in this context, refers to a negotiated political settlement that addresses the questions of how Nigerians should live peacefully together, how power should be organized and exercised to generate political stability, and how institutions and the economy can be structured to promote sustainable and inclusive growth and development.
He explained that the process would involve substantial devolution of powers from the central government, regional integration, and ownership of the country by its citizens saying that It's essential to have a sense of legitimacy and ownership among Nigerians, which can only be achieved through a negotiated political settlement.
The Clergyman noted that some experts have suggested that Nigeria's ethnic nationalities should come together to negotiate the terms of their co-existence in the country, adding that this would involve addressing the historical injustices and imbalances that have contributed to the current state of insecurity and instability.
While saying that restructuring is not a magic bullet, Pastor Okafor said it has the potential to address some of the underlying issues that have hindered Nigeria's development, stressing that it requires a collective effort and a willingness to negotiate and compromise among the country's diverse ethnic and regional groups.
He called on the State Governments to do more primary responsibilities in order to touch more lives to reduce the effects of the present economic impacts.
