In keeping with its determination to ensure the cleanliness of all towns and cities of the state, the Delta State Waste Management Board has tackled the illegal dumpsite around Esisi bridge, Okere, warri.
Officials of the Board, led by Patience Jitokun, evacuated the waste on Wednesday, leaving the area with a new look.
The member representing Delta South on the Board, Hon Mrs Juliet Enifome Ethe, while reacting to the development, noted that DSWMB owed it a duty to deliver on its mandate of ensuring a cleaner and healthier environment through effective waste management.
Mrs Ethe said dumping of waste around the Esisi bridge had been a recurring problem, but declared that the Board, led by Hon Matthew Mofe Edema, had zero tolerance for indiscriminately dumped waste, in line with the M.O.R.E Agenda of Governor Sheriff Obborevwori and would keep a constant eye on the area and other strategic locations in Warri and the environs.
She reminded residents that indiscriminate dumping of refuse was not only a bad habit but also unlawful, urging them to take ownership of their environment and keep it clean at all times for the greater good of public health.
