The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, has briefed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the agency’s ongoing reforms and proposed programmes for 2026 aimed at strengthening national unity, civic responsibility and value re-orientation across the country.
During a meeting with the President, Issa-Onilu said the agency had since October 2023 aligned its programmes with the Tinubu administration’s vision of restoring shared national values and rebuilding public confidence in government institutions. He noted that NOA’s achievements were driven by the President’s policy direction and support.
The NOA boss explained that the agency had intensified citizen engagement, behavioural change campaigns and grassroots mobilisation to promote patriotism and social cohesion among Nigerians. He stressed that national orientation remained critical to effective governance and greater public participation in government policies and national development.
A press release signed by the Director Communication and Media Bala Musa indicates that Mallam Issa-Onilu also unveiled the agency’s proposed 2026 agenda, which includes expanded public sensitisation campaigns, stronger citizen engagement initiatives and wider implementation of the National Values Charter across communities nationwide.
He added that the proposed programmes are designed to consolidate existing gains while introducing innovative approaches to public communication, civic education and value advocacy, alongside strengthening the agency’s grassroots presence and improving public understanding of government policies and national priorities.
