Okpanam ward 9 Oshimili North stands still for Ochei, as hundreds defect to NDC

The Delta North Senatorial ambition of Rt. Hon. Engr. Victor Onyekachi Ochei received a significant boost on Saturday as thousands of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other political parties defected to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during a political consultation in Ward 9, Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area.
The mass defection, described by party supporters as unprecedented, was witnessed during Ochei's consultation visit to the ward, where party faithful, stakeholders, and residents declared their support for his senatorial aspiration.
Addressing the gathering, the former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly said there was an urgent need for purposeful leadership and accelerated development across Delta North Senatorial District.
Ochei, who also served as Executive Director at the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), said the National Democratic Congress is committed to delivering good governance and quality representation to the people.
He noted that he would unveil his comprehensive agenda for the district at the appropriate time when the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially signals the commencement of electioneering campaigns.
The NDC Delta North Senatorial candidate commended the party's Oshimili North House of Assembly candidate, Ashinze Obi Odogwu, for his humanitarian services and grassroots empowerment through his foundation, describing him as a committed leader with a passion for community development.
One of the major highlights of the event was the defection of thousands of APC members from Ward 9, Okpanam, who formally joined the NDC, pledging their support for the party ahead of the forthcoming elections.
In his vote of thanks, the NDC House of Assembly candidate for Oshimili North, Ashinze Obi Odogwu, assured residents of his commitment to providing effective representation and attracting meaningful developmental projects to the constituency if elected.
He described Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei as an accomplished politician and a worthy son of Anioma whose track record in public service and legislative leadership speaks volumes about his capacity to represent Delta North effectively.
The event was attended by the Oshimili North NDC Chairman, Ward 9 party executives, community stakeholders, supporters, and other party faithful.
