By Gilbert Olie
The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has commiserated with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and families of personnel who lost their lives in the tragic aircraft crash in the Igbokoda area of Ondo State.
The Agency also pledged to intensify public enlightenment on the proper observance of the Nigerian national flag, following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's declaration of three days of national mourning and directive for the flag to be flown at half-mast.
The Director-General of NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, described the incident as a painful loss to the nation, saying the fallen personnel demonstrated courage, discipline, patriotism and an unwavering commitment to national service.
Issa-Onilu said their sacrifice in the service of Nigeria would remain a lasting part of the nation's history and deserved to be honoured and remembered.
According to him, the declaration of national mourning provides an opportunity for Nigerians to reflect on the sacrifices made by members of the nation's security and defence forces in protecting the country's sovereignty and citizens.
He said NOA would work to ensure that the President's directive on the national flag was properly understood and observed across the country throughout the mourning period.
The NOA boss described the national flag as a powerful symbol of Nigeria's sovereignty, unity and shared national identity, urging citizens to observe the mourning period with dignity, respect and solemnity.
He further expressed solidarity with the Chief of the Air Staff, officers and personnel of the Nigerian Air Force, saying the Agency shared in their grief over the loss of their colleagues who paid the supreme price in the service of the nation.
Issa-Onilu also extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased personnel, acknowledging the profound pain associated with losing loved ones who died while serving their country.
He prayed that God would grant the bereaved families, colleagues and the entire Nigerian Air Force the strength, comfort and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
This version gives the report a stronger news lead, smoother transitions and a more authoritative newspaper tone while retaining the substance of the NOA statement. OVER ONDO AIRCRAFT CRASH
