The movement of people from one State to another and from communities to another has reduced drastically as a result of increase in the prices of fuel and transportation.
The reports on the situation reveavled that motorists spent hours on long queues to purchase fuel while passengers wait for hours in parks as a result of reduction in the number of travellers.
A visit to filling stations in Asaba and its environs revealed that pump prices of fuel are between two hundred to two hundred and seventy naira while it was discovered that it was only NNPC Mega filling station that was selling at the approved pump price of one hundred and seventy nine naira.
At the motor parks,it was revealed that movement of people have reduced drastically as a result of increase in transportation.
From Asaba to Onitsha is between five hundred to one thousand Naira as against three hundred naira while Asaba to Benin is now two thousand as against one thousand naira.
Traveling from Asaba to Warri is now three thousand Naira as against one thousand five, Asaba to Kwale is one thousand five hundred naira, Isoko and Ughelli is between two thousand to two thousand five hundred naira.
Some of the motor park operators and members of public said it was not a good situation as Nigerians are suffering.
They said the painful aspect was that the leadership of the country has kept mute and had done nothing to ameriorate the situation.
They said apart from fuel and transportation, price increase of other consumables have also skyrocketed beyond the reach of the common people.
The called for ugent intervention and restoration of the ugly situations before people start dieing.
