Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has pledged to appoint men and women with proven record of integrity and capacity to deliver into the state Executive Council so as to effectively drive his M.O.R.E. Agenda.
Governor Oborevwori made the pledge while playing host to the Chairman and members of the State Working Committee of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council at Government House, Asaba.
The governor disclosed that appointment into positions of authorities would not be based on sentiment.
He affirmed that appointees into various positions would be a blend of youths and seasoned administrators and reiterated his assurance that he would be a governor for all Deltans.
The governor lauded members of the Delta State Council of the NUJ for their support for him before, during and after the gubernatorial election and called on Media practitioners in the state to partner with him in consolidating the tempo of development.
Hon Oborevwori charged journalists in the country to always adhere strictly to the ethics of their profession, stressing that no society can attain meaningful development without the salient roles of the press.
Earlier, the Chairman of the NUJ, Delta State Council, Comrade Michael Ikeogwu said the visit was to pledge the union's support to the policies and programmes of the present administration in the state.
Comrade Ikeogwu expressed the union's appreciation to Governor Oborevwori for appointing a seasoned and accomplished journalist, Sir Festus Ahon as his Chief Press Secretary.
The Chairman appealed to the Governor to consider the upgrade of the state's broadcast stations and The Pointer Newspaper, stressing that the Radio arm of DRTV, Warri, should be upgraded for effective broadcast.
Comrade Ikeogwu, also, appealed to the governor to grant approval for the General Managers of the three state owned media houses to retire with consolidated salaries
