The Malaria Technical Working Group in the state have been inaugurated with the task on adopting preventive measures in the fight against malaria through grassroot advocacy and sensitisation.
The Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu made the call today during the inauguration of the Malaria Technical Working Group at the SSG complex, Asaba.
While stressing that malaria is a fast killer disease prevalent in African, The Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, tasked the technical working group to adopt preventive measures rather than curative measures in kicking out malaria in the state.
The SSG pointed out that the primary objective of the group was grassroots sensitization.
He therefore emphasized the need for the group to conduct advocacy at all levels, plan with international partners and primary health care in local councils and wards for malaria control and prevention.
Dr. Emu clarified that the state government has always released imprest for the smooth running of all its agencies and parasternal while stressing that the malaria technical working group should adopt key parameter indices, KPIs, which can be used to appraise their performances
The SSG also expressed his opinion on the need to explore and develop known herbs which have been curative as treatment medications against malaria.
The chairman of the Technical Working Group, Dr. Philomena Okeowo thanked the state government for putting modalities in kicking out malaria, promising that they will fulfill the objective as members of the technical group.
