The Delta State Government has reiterated its willingness to accept constructive criticism aimed at developing the state, describing such engagement as an impetus for progress.
This followed a protest staged by some youths in the Udu Local Government Area of the state, who were pressing home their demand for increased government presence in the area.
The Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, made this known to journalists in Asaba, describing such criticism as vital for growth and development.
Mr Aniagwu said that the Oborevwori-led administration welcomes honest feedback through its official channels aimed at enhancing governance, but frowned upon unnamed individuals allegedly attempting to incite discontent through false narratives ahead of the elections.
He noted that these persons, unable to challenge the government directly, were sponsoring others to misrepresent facts.
The Commissioner emphasised that the administration has been fair in project distribution across all 25 local government areas in the state, including Udu, which did not overwhelmingly support the Governor in 2023.
He stressed that, the government has invested heavily in infrastructure and human capital in Udu Local Government.
Aniagwu disclosed that over 27.8 kilometres of roads and 24 kilometres of drains have been constructed or rehabilitated in Udu, including connections to Uvwie, Ughelli South, and Warri South-West.
He added that the government is working on the DSC roundabout flyover project, which is transforming the area’s landscape, the rehabilitation of CAC Road off Orhuwhorun Road, and the construction of Bezi Road, off College Road, Aladja.
The Commissioner said government remains focused on delivering sustainable development across the 25 local government areas,not just in Udu.
