*League of Unpatriotic Deltans: Revealing the Gang's Agenda*

In a shocking display of irony and discontent, a group self-identified as the "League of Patriotic Deltans" stormed the Vanguard newspaper on June 3, 2024, to vehemently criticize the one-year anniversary celebration of Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori's administration. This group, ironically misnamed, has proven to be anything but patriotic in their demands and behaviour.
The crux of their discontent lies in the assertion that His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori has merely been commissioning projects initiated by his predecessor, His Excellency, Senator Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, and thus, the anniversary celebration is unwarranted. They argue, in their misguided view, that Oborevwori should abandon all projects started by Okowa, a perspective that reveals a fundamental misunderstanding of governance and continuity.
This stance is not only unpatriotic but also the height of absurdity. Governance, especially at the state level, requires a seamless transition and completion of projects regardless of the administration under which they were initiated. Abandoning ongoing projects simply because they were started by a previous administration would be a gross misuse of public resources and a disservice to the citizens.
Governor Oborevwori, in his inaugural address, made a solemn promise to the people of Delta State: to ensure the completion of all ongoing projects and to initiate new ones that align with his vision for the state's development as encapsulated in his M.O.R.E. Agenda. This promise is not just a reflection of his commitment but also a testament to his understanding of the need for continuity in governance and a binding social contract of Advancing Delta.
The actions of the so-called "League of Patriotic Deltans" are, therefore, the greatest display of unpatriotism and unbecoming behaviour. Their demands, if met, would lead to chaos, waste, and stagnation, undermining the progress and development that Delta State desperately needs. Their actions are a clear sabotage of the state's interests and progress, deserving of the severest condemnation in fire squad in some parts of the world.
For all intents and purposes, Governor Oborevwori's commitment to completing ongoing projects and initiating new ones demonstrates his role as a promise keeper and a true leader. It is this dedication to continuity and development that sets him apart and shows his true patriotism towards Delta State. On the contrary, the so-called "League of Patriotic Deltans" should be seen for what they truly are: saboteurs whose actions merit severe repercussions, perhaps as extreme as a firing squad, for their blatant betrayal of the state's interests.
In conclusion, patriotism in Delta State should be measured by one's commitment to the state's development and progress, not by misguided and destructive rhetoric. Governor Oborevwori's administration, through its dedication to both continuity and innovation, exemplifies true patriotism. It is this spirit that should be celebrated and upheld, not the divisive and unproductive actions of a misguided few.
