The State Surveyor General Mr.Eboka Chukuemeka has disclosed that the land use act 1978 does not allow individuals to own land but only permit individuals to express interest on a land.
Mr Eboka made the disclosure in his office in Asaba while speaking with Journalists, stating that the entire land in the State belongs to the State Government.
He reitrerated that the State Government has formed boundary technical committee to oversee, survey and certify land ownership across the State.
The Surveyor General explained that the synergy between the office of the surveyor General and the Peace and Conflict Resolution has made it clear for individuals and State Government to achieve sustainable development goal in it's objectives.
Mr.Eboka revealed that the National Boundary Commission has the duty to deleanate State's Boundaries between States for the reason of authenticating particular portion of land that belongs to each State.
He advised the people to always document their landed properties in order not result to misunderstanding and dispute that could lead to legal tussle.
Mr.Eboka charged Deltans to always survey and develop their land in order to ease investigation of ownership of a property.
According the Surveyor General Certificate of Accuracy last for ninety nine years while building plan is twenty four months.
He advised owners of land to endeavor to build structure on their land to discourage people from encroaching on such land.
