The monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise for the month of March, took place on Saturday 29/03/2025 between the hours of 7am -10am.with one hundred and fifty seven persons arrained before the mobile court.
The Chairman Delta State Taskforce on Environment, Chief Godspower Asiwhu accompanied by the administrative Secretary Mrs.Nkechi Amaraegbu,mobilised workers with mobile court in section to arrest and try those who violated the environmental laws.
During the exercise, vehicular and human movements were restricted and residents who disabayed environmental laws were arrested and arraigned before the mobile court.
The Chairman, said it was the duty of all residents to clean up their environment during the designated hours,stressing that any violator of sanitation laws must face the consequences
He said the Taskforce has made it a duty for everyday sanitation,adding that there was need for attitudinal change to avoid dirty Environment.
Chief Asiwhu revealed that the Taskforce is collaborating with, the local Governments, Capital Territory Development Agency led by Chief Patrick Ukah,and other Agencies in the state to ensure that the state was kept clean.
He appealed to residents to join hands with the state Government to achieve the best for the state.
Also speaking, the Oshimili South local Government Secretary Mr.Henry Enebeli stressed the need for the state and local Governments to collaborate in ensuring that cleaner Environment was maintained.
He said residents has been sensitised and it was time to take action that will bring better sanitation system to the state.
Mr Enebbeli commended residents who complied with the sanitation exercise and urged them to join hands with the state Government to keep the community clean.
At the end of the sanitation exercise 157 persons were arraigned before the mobile court precided over by a senior Magistrate, Mrs Fairth Kalu,and were given different fins and community services.
The newly appointed Head of Service and former permanent secretary ministry of Environment Mrs.Minimim Oseji also monitored the monthly sanitation exercise as dedicated servant.
