DESTMA to Enforce Traffic Laws in Delta State from July 1 2025.
 
The Director General Delta State Transport Management Agency,DESTMA,Dr. Benjamin Essien Okiemute,who stated this while speaking with Journalists, revealed that DESTMA, is set to begin full enforcement of traffic regulations in Delta State, from July 1. 

He explained that the move follows a statewide sensitization campaign targeting key stakeholders in road use and public space management.
 Dr.Okiemute said all motorcycle riders and their passengers are to put on  helmets and no extensions will be allowed on Keke, while  curtain covers and transporting heavy goods is prohibited.

The DG, explained that  Vehicles and tricycle  operators are to relocate from unauthorized spots or approach local government chairmen for approved parking spaces.
The Market Traders have been warned not to display their Goods on pedestrian walkways while
Banks and Churches have been directed to provide Proper parking facilities for customers and members staff.

Dr.Okiemute said  Strict penalties are to be imposed on violators.as Offenders will face mobile court trials and those found guilty risk up to six months in jail with hard labor.
He explained that assaulting DESTMA, officials will attract severe penalties from the Delta State Government.
The Director General said,In the operations system there will be Collaboration with Sister Agencies, including the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) HQ Nigerian Army  and the Nigeria Police Force  to ensure effective enforcement of traffic regulations.
