Environmental protection and management is everybody's responsibility.
The State Chairman,Taskforce on Environment, Chief Godspower Asiuwhu,stated this at the weekly get together organized by the State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists,held at the press center Asaba, Delta State Capital.
Chief Asiuwhu stated that the state Government was doing all it could to ensure that Delta State is kept clean.
He said the duty of the Taskforce was to check mate the Environmental offences through Environmental laws.stressing that even those who are well placed in the society are not left out.
The Taskforce Chairman appealed to Jonourlists to couraborate with the state Government to sensize the people as Government cannot do it alone.
He warned eateries and hoteliers to desist from channeling their sewage to the public drains as that would lead to arrest and prosecution.
Chief Asiuwhu emphasized that the ban on cat pushers, known as iron condem is still in force while those trading or parking on work ways had been warned and many times arrested and prosecuted.
He said the issue of dump suite maintenance is been managed by the State Government and in no distance time, the problems would be over.
The Taskforce Chairman revealed that when he assumed office,he made some changes in respect of staff strength and reorientation which had helped to strengthen the Taskforce.
Earlier the State Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Churchill Oyowe said the hangout was to pally with people and know their contributions to the growth of the economy.
He commended the Taskforce Chairman, Chief Godspower Asiuwhu for honouring the invitation saying that it was a confirmation that he is a good leader.
