Creation of Anioma State gathers momentum.
A stakeholders summit held in Asaba has highlighted the need to create Anioma State from Delta State.
The Bill seeking the creation has passed first reading at the Senate waiting for its second reading.
The Summit attracted critical stakeholders in Anioma Nation including serving and former National and state Assembly members, traditional Rulers,Community leaders,women and Youths..
The Convener,the member representing Delta North at the Senate said the summit was meant to re-awaken the Consciousness of Anioma people on their desire to be independent.
Others that spoke urged Anioma sons and daughters to contribute their quota toward the creation of Anioma State.
The Proposed State will be calved out of Delta State and it will include the Nine Local government of Delta North.
Also,the United Igbo Elders council also lent their voice in support of the creation of Anioma State.
They noted that the creation of Anioma State will even benefit Delta and Nigeria at large.
The Organization which is non governmental organization but delights in development of Igbos and non Igbos said that the agitation of the creation of the new state dates back to decades.
