PROTECT THE DIGNITY OF JOURNALISM PROFESION-LATIMORE TO JOURNALISTS

Journalists in the state have been urged to always verify information and facts before exposing a story to the public as it was unprofessional.

The Director General, Delta State Bureau of Orientation and Communications Dr.Fred Latimore Oghenesive who gave the advice at the NUJ parly to party 7th edition, noted that it does not tell good of a Journalist to discover that a story was not true after publication.



He made reference to the recent publication on the forty billion naira loan grant to Local Government by the State Government to help reduce pensioners sufferings.

The DG stressed that it was better to investigate and verify information before publication to retain the dignity of journalism profession because after untrue publication it would become difficult to trust any story coming out from such medium.



He said the Government of Governor OBOREVWORI is open and ready to give listening ear to Journalists at any time through Government information channels.

Dr..Oghenesive called on Journalists in the state to join hands with the government to promote the programmes and workings of the government as it would help to bring more opportunities and development to the state.



He commended the present leadership of the NUJ and qualities of Journalists in the state stressing the need to carry everybody along in the scheme of things.

The DG also appreciated Governor Sheriff OBOREVWORI for the new elevation of his position to a higher level saying that it will spur him to work harder.

In the problems of DBS Asaba and Warri,Dr.Oghenesive said Government was planning the way forward for the two stations adding that the Governor must do his best to ensure the two stations bounce back .



On the problems of failed portions of some roads, including Nsukwa road,Nwawolor road in Asaba,NYSC road at Isele UKU among others, the DG asured that they would be looked into and and find solutions.

He also noted that the Ishagu -Ewulu road would be looked into as the Governor is not a promotal of bad construction work as any job done out of government specifications would not be accepted 



Earlier the State NUJ Chairman, Comrade Churchill Oyowe appreciated the State Governor for elevating Dr.Latimore Oghenesive to Director General Orientation and commended the DG for his performance saying that NUJ will always work in peace with his office.

He advised members of NUJ to ensure that whatever they publish was well investigated and verified to protect the image of the Union.
