The Delta State Government has sealed up Kilimanjaro Fast Food outlet on Nnebisi Road ,Asaba over neglect, refusal to abate nuisance and obey Court summons.
The General Manager of the State Environmental Protection Agency DELSEPA, Mr Victor Okolie who led a team of taskforce officials to the fast food center on Thursday,said the sealing up of the eatery followed series of petitions against the establishment by neighborhood over noise and air pollution from the eatery's generating plant.
He noted that the Agency had advised the management of the eatery to move the generator from its position in order not to affect the health status of their neighborhood but they proved adamant adding that the eatery also neglected summons served on it on March 26 hence the directives by Court to seal up the said eatery.
Mr Okolie said failure by Kilimanjaro Fast Food to abate nuisance was a grievous offense and against section 39 of the State Environmental Protection Agency Law of 1997 adding that the Agency had only carried out its statutory duty to ensure the safety of residents of the State.
The State Chairman Taskforce on environment, Chief Godspower Asiuwhu enjoined investors to obey the State environmental protection Agency laws saying that Kilimanjaro Fast Food violated the law for its failure to comply with the warnings,adding that the court order will serve as a deteran to other violators.
The Manager of the Kilimanjaro fast food,Mr Michael Chimaobi who spoke to news men confirmed the summons served on them but said that he did not expect the sealing pledged to inform his Boss for a follow up on the matter.
